Lego Targets Girls with New Lego Friends Toys

Following the earlier Lego Friends post, check out this clip from Bloomberg on Lego business. Acheiving an amazing USD 1 billion sales in the US market in 2010, lego will now target the girls market.

Lego Annual Toys 'R' Us Sales at United Square

The yearly Toys 'R' Us Lego Sales is here again at Novena United Square (from 19- 21 Aug), as advertised, the discount was up to 55%. This year my friends & I didn't bother to queue up and went into "battle" mode -battling for our lego, having done that for the last 2 years. After last year feedbacks from the public (or complaints), each customer is limited to 3 per box for the same item, no stacking of lego at one corner.

Reached Novena during lunch time around 1pm. The sales started at 11pm, my friend told me that there are people queuing up last evening (the usual practice). My sis was in the line, she queued for 2 hrs before getting into "shopping arena". Took another 1 hr to queue up for payment.

Sales items for this year are mainly CARS, Atlantis, Hero Factory, Prince of Persia, Bionicle, Racers, Toys Story, Space Police, Dulop, Technics and City, a few sets of Harry Potter, Pirates of Caribbean, Pharaoh's Quest and Castle. One reason the local forum AFOLs didn't turn out is because they ain't really interested in these sets.

Saturday & Sunday will be opened to the public (without TRU card memberships) , there will be restock this year. I don't think the sales are up to 55%, buyers please take note, there are a few boxes of Pirates Of the Caribbean without price tag, and that is retail price! (no discount), so do check your receipts! TRU should not put retail price items in this sales! We can always buy at 20% off during sales.

Lego Sales 23 Feb

On Monday, i received an email from BricksWorld, they are having a 20% discount for members today. By the time i'm made this post, i am afraid most of the 10xxx are all gone by now, the public might not be able to get them as there won't be any re-stock.

Reached there in the afternoon, to my surprise, my sis & her colleague was there too (able to use my membership card). For lego sets 10xxx (5 digits) there are bout 4-5 boxes each when i was there, as orders kept coming in, when i left Grand Emporium, Tower Bridge and Fire Brigade are sold out.

My purchase are 10213 Shuttle Adventure S$159.92 (after 20% off) and 10214 Tower bridge S$319.92 (after 20% off). My sis bought the 1st modular 10211 Grand Emporium S$271.92 (after 20%). Her colleague bought Tower Bridge, Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium, will update them shortly.

With a 20% discount, it is quite good to get a few large sets. I spoke to the lady boss earlier, she told me someone had ordered 18 boxes of Grand Emporium. She might consider having 20% off just for members in the near future, suggested to have such sales every 6 months or so, she will be considering.

Lego Christmas Sales in Singapore

Was at Tampinese Toy'R'Us yesterday, the set 8404 is now at $169.90.

The retail price for this set previously was $219.90 (at 30% off). However an earlier post on 17 Aug, the rrp i received was S$169.90 (so it seems there isn't any discount). Other sets on discount includes Hero Factory, Prince of Persia.

With a $40 toyrus voucher, I have to use it shortly before year end.

My order from BN arrives today, it took about 35 days (via airmail) and I'm glad it arrives safetly. The sets are shipped from different warehouses, one from US and 2 boxes from France (Laposte). Items were well packed and protected with air bubble.

Now I have 3 large postman mailing bags.

The 3 sets of Hogwarts Castle (buy 2 get 3rd free), includes further discount during purchase, the promotion was for a very short period. For any purchase from overseas, I would recommend using Paypal for payment rather than deduct direct from credit cards. If the items doesn't arrive, you can always file for item not received, within 45 days of payment (for paypal) so there is buyer protection. There are risks in buying, one of a fellow collector received her items but the lego set had badly damaged box (good that it arrives), others mentioned not receiving their orders at all.

One set belongs to a friend and my nephew/niece can share a box for Christmas. The last is for me to keep. No risks no gain, each box cost about 40% OF current Singapore retail price. I'm not really a Harry Potter fan, probably will modify the castle for something else.

Sydney Myer Lego

18 Sept, after dinner, walked to the store nearby and check out the lego... intend to buy the Troll's Mountain Fortress. The store was closing, left shortly after taking a few pictures.. decided to buy on the last day.

Myer store has a large section for lego, basically you can get all the lego sets there, the price is lower as compared to Singapore. (18 Sept)

So much for last Friday sales... here are the pictures of my Sydney trip in September last year. In November & December, I was in Perth.. some pictures shortly.

Myer Sydney was near my service apartment, i decided to pop by again on the last day before taking a cab to the airport. Was in a rush to the airport, snapped a few pictures of the 1 day sale, brought 3 lego sets, troll's mountain fortress and drawbridge defense. With an additional 10% tax rebate at the airport.. a cool 30% off :)

Lego Sales is Here again

Received the email yesterday. The big sales is here again, up to 65% off, first day for card members only. Unlike last year, where I reached at exactly 11am.. and had to wait about 15 mins to go in after the 1st round purchased. This year I will be slightly earlier, probably around 9 or 10am.

But I learn from fellow lego fans, they are going to start to queue at 7-8 am. Some even at 6:30 am. I anticipate there will be more stock as compared to last year, where everything was sold out on the 1st day. It was supposed to open for the public over the weekends, with no stocks replenishments nothing was left. The Saturday sale ended before noon, with a miserable few sets..

Will be there tomorrow, just to check if there are any sets that I want. My guess is the avaliable sets are mainly City, probably Altantis, Prince of Persia and others.
