Lego Pirates of Caribbean Landed in Singapore 27 April

Lego 4194 Pirates of the Caribbean Whitecap Bay
4194 Whitecap Bay retail price S$179.90. Member's price $143.90.

The POTC sets are now available in local Lego Store. Usually on the first day of release, there will be lego fans rushing for it and be the first to own them. Well between "Instant & Delayed Gratification", i prefer the latter.

Members get 10% off the retail price.

My order will be send on 1 May. The blog will have a review on the sets 4194 Whitecap Bay and 4195 Queen's Ann Revenge in about 2 weeks time. For Whitecap bay, the US retail is at USD69.99, about 30% less than the member's price (even including shipment), so there's nothing exciting on the member's price.

With the marked up prices in local stores, buying them from overseas is a good choice.

POTC Singapore Retail Price

Queen Ann's Revenge, the pirate ship fans looking forward to
at SGD 249.90

Here is the price list for Pirates of The Caribbean sets (US, Canada, UK and Singapore).

As usual the difference in retail price (before discount) in Singapore is 40-50% more expensive as compared to US.

Unless there is a BIG sales of 30-40% discount, i won't be getting any POTC sets here. For local fans on budget, if they are patience enough, just wait for another 3 -4 mths or by the end of this year, i foreseen POTC will be similiar as POP (Prince of Persia), they will be on discount - clearing stock (applicable to Singapore market).

LEGO 4195 Queen Anne’s Revenge ($119.99 USD / $149.99 CAD / £102.99 GBP) SGD 249.90

LEGO 4194 Whitecap Bay ($69.99 USD / $89.99 CAD / £71.99 GBP) SGD 179.90

LEGO 4193 The London Escape ($49.99 USD / $69.99 CAD / £49.99 GBP) SGD 139.90

LEGO 4192 Fountain of Youth ($24.99 USD / $34.99 CAD / £21.99 GBP) SGD 59.90

LEGO 4191 The Captain’s Cabin ($10.99 USD / $14.99 CAD / £10.49 GBP) SGD 29.90

LEGO 4183 The Mill ($39.99 USD / $54.99 CAD / £40.99 GBP) SGD 109.90

LEGO 4182 The Cannibal Escape ($29.99 USD / $39.99 CAD / £30.99 GBP) SGD 79.90

LEGO 4181 Isla De la Muerta ($24.99 USD / $34.99 CAD / £21.99 GBP) SGD 50.90

Lego Maersk Update 2011

Initially i was wondering why Lego produces Maersk ships & trains. Now i know why, a history of Maersk as described from Lego online store.

More than 550 Maersk Sealand Cargo liners sail the seas, carrying valuable goods to ports in 130 countries around the world. Established in 1904, this company is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark and is the leading container shipping company in the world.

Spend some time researching on lego maersk ships and found some pictures which i like to share.

This is what we have this year, currently avaliable on Lego Online Store.
10155 Maersk Container Ship, USD 119.90, 990 pieces.

The new version has two more pieces and the sticker/decal says “Maersk Line” instead of “Maersk Sealand,” but the set appears to be otherwise identical. 10155 Maersk Container Shipicon costs $120 (compare to the original at $75 seven years ago) and is available from the LEGO Shop online now. first reported on 3 Jan on brothers brick.

Maersk Container Ship MOC by Thomas N. This is really nice

This is the first Maersk Line Container Ship 1650 from the year 1974.

Classic container ship

Lego 10152 Maersk Sealand from 2005 Edition, saw this ship for sale at Toy Station last year. Compared with 10155, a price difference and an additional 2 pieces. (Check the back of the box)

Following the ship, will you be getting this Maersk train this year?

10219 Maersk Train. Weighing in at 1,234 pieces, it’ll cost you US $119.99/CA $159.99/DE 119.99 €/UK 91.99 £ when it hits LEGO Shop@Home’s website and retails stores beginning April 1, 2011.

Guess staff from Maersk would like to collect all the Maersk ships & trains, in support of their company.

How well do you know about Singapore shipping lines? We know Singapore has been the number 1 port in the world in terms of container handling, do you know any Singapore cargo ships as famous as Maersk?

Malaysia Lego

Readers might like to have a look at Malaysia lego price, i am kind of surprised by the "PRICE". The policy being such that if the country's sales volume is less (less popular), the price will be higher. If we talk about buying power, it is impossible for the average Malaysian to buy such expensive toys in their country. Paying RM 700 for a box is about half or 1/3 of their salary, (based on the average income in Malaysia). No wonder Lego will not make it in Malaysia market, at least have the same price as Singapore.

Hogwarts Castle at RM 679.90!

Kingdoms Advert Calendar at RM 110.90

Kingdoms King's Castle RM 669.90 (SGD 283, USD 220) Indonesian price is probably the same or higher than Malaysia.

Singapore Retail price $219.90, members can get 10% less. I bought this castle at SGD135.90 during sales.

Kind of speechless, looks like a black market to me...this is the lego pricing in Asia (Indonesia too). We are kind of neglected here, why are we paying much more as compared to US, Australia and maybe UK.

Brick Bastion is the first online store selling lego in Malaysia, for Malaysia friends, they can just travel down the causeway and buy their lego in Singapore.

Current Exchange rate: 100 SGD to 236.71 Malaysian Ringgit

A Lego staff send me an email recently regarding my blog, hopefully they will see this post too. For the benefit of Lego fans in Asia.

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean Price

Here is the retail price in UK. The Pirates will arrive in May just a few more months. Based on UK price, the price we pay here will probably multiple by 2 or 2.5.

We do not know if PoC will be like PoP, if you guys are patience just wait for a 20% discount during sales (about 3-4 times per year), more discount at the annual lego sales in Oct. I have no intention of buying at retail price.

New picture update Mar

LATEST PICTURE UPDATE: 7 FEB 2011

Guess castle, kingdoms lovers will be interested to know the coming new sets for 2011.

One fan who attended the Brickevent last month reported: A medieval windmill! New paint on animals. Dots on grey horse and on white pigs. White pigs? I wonder if it's the white sheep.

If it is true, it will be great to add the windmill to the MMV set 10193. Well I am looking forward for more news and importantly some pictures to confirm this.

Checking Lego Prices in Town (27 Sept)

Lego Space Shuttle was not avaliable in Toy-R-Us. Taking a close look at the price..

SGD 269.90. In US, the retail price is USD99, furthermore it comes with a free lego astronaut magnet figure (from a US friend)

Shop display. The modulars, an increase in prices as compared to a few months ago. Probably because in Singapore, a few celebrities announced that they are collecting lego modulars, thus the price is marked up further.

Current promotion, which I don't really bother. Just to show how lego prices are marked up at retail.

Was in town to collect my race pack at lunch time, my main blog
Hedgehog & Friends

After that, walked to a nearby toy shop and checked the lego, didn't buy anything as everything seems so expensive nowadays. Most of my stuff are purchased online, and I seldom buy lego off retail now, unless there is a 20% discount or more.

Received a packet from Germany this evening (well unable to keep the promise of not buying lego for even a month - just reduced spending, picking up something cheap before it was gone), will update a post later this week.

Lego Kingdoms 7950 Knight's Showdown (Part 2)

Kingdoms 7950 Knight's Showdown...

New helmet and for the first time, we have a dark coloured sword

the extra pieces from this set

Kingdoms 7950, one of the small set consists of 2 Knights: the Green dragon knight & King's Lion knight plus the soldier's cataput. A good army building set, again with the temptation of buying a few sets! Bought 2 sets at the moment.

US retail at USD6.99. Singapore retail price at $12.90 (10% discount for card members).
