Lego Tribal Chief & Rain Dance Ridge Review

An example of the lego box 6709 .. the items won are loose, complete & superb condition apart from a few used bricks. The minifigures are in excellent conditions.

Loose Tribal Chief

Lego System 6718 Rain Dance Ridge

Auction Lot 2. Complete loose Rain Dance Ridge. Enjoyed the black bow, arrow quiver and spear. Plus the 3 black rattlesnake

Auction Lot 1.. the tribal chief set with the additional 2 native Indians & canoe..

Design of the shields, represented by buffalo helmet and a running horse

Western Indians..

The Red Canoe..

The difference between the Mini Figures Series 1 Tribal Hunter and the classic Indian. Which figure do you prefer?

Tribal Chief & Medicine Man

Received the items in a box today.. purchase from UK ebay about 2 weeks ago. It was a good buy, won the auction on the 1st bid & 2nd bid, so the price was low. These are 1997 Lego System Western theme, the cowboys & native Indians...

Probably will look into building an Indian village, when I received my parts. But I guess having the lego teepee is necessary, plus the Indian native female figure which is kind of exclusive.

King's Rangers Castle

2 brown hood and the fun begins...torso is from Viking sets.

In an earlier post, was on the mini castle army of 35 knights (5 Aug post). Having purchased the torso, head, and legs, I was left with 2 figures without headgears. Yesterday, I got the brown hood for these 2 figures.

Here are the scouts, engaged in reconnaissance for the King. The King's Rangers, the ranger's job is to scout and gather military intelligence. Shortly, I realised that they need the brown cape for this 2 figures, upon checking found that the capes can be expensive. But anyway will do without it at the moment.

Sydney Myer Lego

18 Sept, after dinner, walked to the store nearby and check out the lego... intend to buy the Troll's Mountain Fortress. The store was closing, left shortly after taking a few pictures.. decided to buy on the last day.

Harbour Bridge made of lego is on display at the Myer Sydney City Store (18 Sept)

Myer store has a large section for lego, basically you can get all the lego sets there, the price is lower as compared to Singapore. (18 Sept)

Power miners!

Last day, and a lucky day too.. in the morning.
20% off for all lego just for a day on 19 Sept, amazingly it was pretty quiet, lucky didn't buy anything on 18 Sept the day before.

No I didn't buy this tower...

So much for last Friday sales... here are the pictures of my Sydney trip in September last year. In November & December, I was in Perth.. some pictures shortly.

Myer Sydney was near my service apartment, i decided to pop by again on the last day before taking a cab to the airport. Was in a rush to the airport, snapped a few pictures of the 1 day sale, brought 3 lego sets, troll's mountain fortress and drawbridge defense. With an additional 10% tax rebate at the airport.. a cool 30% off :)

This set was purchased on the Friday sale, the 3221 Lego Truck, new released in July 2010. It is bright yellow and sure it brings a smile to the owner :) Promoting the truck. For City collectors, I'm sure this is a must have, you can use this truck to transport the lego to your cargo train! I'm afraid I am falling deeper into collecting city sets. Lego Castle Fright Knights - Fire Cart & Catapault Cart

Fright Knights Fire Cart 2538 and Fright Knights Catapault Cart 2540

Fright Knights Bat Lord with no cape, what attracted me is the bat helmet

With the shell logo on the box, part of the promotion campaign

Received the following items in the mailbox last night, the Fright Knights Fire Cart (from USA) and the loose Catapault Cart (from Singapore), both sets arrived on the same day.

Both sets are Promotional release with Shell petrol worldwide in 1998.

Castle Fright Knights Fire Cart 2538 - 20 pieces with 1 knight, I don't intend to open up this box.

Castle Fright Knights Catapault Cart 2540 - 28 pieces with 1 knight (complete with instruction)

Personal Note:
After yesterday purchase at the sales, I have decided not to buy any lego from Sept till Dec this year. I might extend the "no buy" to next year from Jan till Feb, time to pause and enjoy what I have now. Although I will be making a payment for the mini figures series 2 shortly at the end of the month.

There will be updates on the lego blog every week, with my current stock on hand, I'm able to open one box every week till the end of the year, and I think this is enough.

More interesting posts coming next,
stay tune!

TRU Mad Sale

At around 8 am, and I can sense there is a chance to get something today.

Gone in minutes... in general most are fellow collectors looking for good bargain. I hope they restock over the weekend for those who missed this round.

I don't even bother to walk over to the star wars section, even I was keen on the imperial star destroyer this time (guess it is ok, I won quite a few others), worried my earlier sets will be taken if I'm away for too long... a China girl helped me to keep an eye on my items. Star wars sets were gone in 5 mins from my knowledge.

This year is worst than last... the people are really "fierce". Seeing kids crying, angry customers complaining... this is part & parcel of a mad sales, it is not recommended to bring along your kids.

For those who went down for a sales, our main aim will be to get what we want... for all the trouble of queuing and waiting, at the end of the day, if you get what you wanted, then it will be worth it. I knew there are people who stayed overnight just to go in, guess they deserved to get the popular sets, I don't promote such behaviour, and we can't stop them from doing so.

Reached the location alone at around 8am, 3 hours before the sale, in front of me are around 20 people (but once the door is opened, there are around 30-40 in front of me). Time passes quicky as I chit-chat with fellow lego lovers while waiting.

And the battle begins at 11pm... and it was a fast one..

Within 15 mins I was going to the cashier. I will not describle the tactics used by others, but I was alone.. it was all about speed and knowing what you want in a mad place (with a bit of luck), it is once a year a crazy sale anyway.. and you join in the madness. The 10210 imperial flagship was avaliable at SGD 204, just a few sets.

Even when you get your sets, someone will just grab it in from of you, some will be more polite asking if the sets are taken, others will just pull it away from you. When you can get 50-65% lower than retail price, the "best" character will be on display.

Picture from "amodularlife.wordpress.com", probably around noon time, everything is gone ... She is a fellow AFFOL.

My haul in 10 mins madness. Left the place within 20 mins, went straight to the cashier kicking the items along the floor, how I wish someone was there to help me, and a friend turn out to help cheers! Waited less than 10 mins at the cashier. Yes again, carried all these stuff in one go...

The Kingdoms castle was for my nephew and me, my nephew currently in primary school pays for his own toys, so I'm glad I helped him to save his pocket money. The creator sets are for my sister.

Set 3221 is a cool lego truck, 5891 Apple Tree House and 6754 Family Home are for family fun.

Happy with these items, all captured alone. The BIG winner being TRU who organized this yearly event. To generate more revenue, they can stock up for the weekend sales. I bet 80-90% will be gone, this time from the public. Probably won't be going for such sale next year.

Ghost Month 鬼月

The Chinese vampire... by tigerggyy

Hungry Ghost Festival is a traditional Chinese festival which falls in the seventh lunar month, which is this month. This is a moc from a Taiwan fan, Tigerggyy.

Here are the classic Chinese vampire ... to stop it from jumping around causing harm, a slip of blessed paper by a master taoist priest is placed at their head.

Lego Sales is Here again

Received the email yesterday. The big sales is here again, up to 65% off, first day for card members only. Unlike last year, where I reached at exactly 11am.. and had to wait about 15 mins to go in after the 1st round purchased. This year I will be slightly earlier, probably around 9 or 10am.

But I learn from fellow lego fans, they are going to start to queue at 7-8 am. Some even at 6:30 am. I anticipate there will be more stock as compared to last year, where everything was sold out on the 1st day. It was supposed to open for the public over the weekends, with no stocks replenishments nothing was left. The Saturday sale ended before noon, with a miserable few sets..

Will be there tomorrow, just to check if there are any sets that I want. My guess is the avaliable sets are mainly City, probably Altantis, Prince of Persia and others.

I have my digital camera with me, so visit the blog again for more pictures of the sales itself.
